We recognise the value of the internet and the amazing capabilities that are made available simply through being online. However, for children to truly benefit from this experience we must be able to ensure a safe environment where we can encourage exploration, learning, play and self expression.

Online Safety in school

When using the school network, students are protected from innappropriate content. We utilise a Web Filtering solution which pre-filters search results, preventing innappropriate content being delivered to the screen by accident and which actively monitors any direct or indirect attempts to access inappropriate content.

Weekly reports are emailed to Mr Farrant and Mr Holt, (governors who support our IT envirnonment) which highlight any potential issues.

Our Web Filtering solution is kept up-to-date by the provider to minimise the online risk presented to our students and staff. We also have the capability to black-list sites of concern.

There are no internet search engines which are completely safe however, here are some links which you could use to help guide your child to more age appropriate search engines (there are many others out there also).

Most modern video games contain an online element and there are many free-to-play games available which rely wholey on online interaction between players. Interaction can be via group/private text messaging, audio and video depending on the game and platform.
